Using Your Strengths to Thrive

When was the last time you were at your best at work?

What were you doing? How did you feel? Strong? Confident?

How would you like to feel like that more often?

On the flip side, how often have you…

  • …not understood why other people just “don’t get it” when you ask them to do something?
  • …spent time on tasks that seem to suck the ever-living daylights out of you?
  • …found yourself spending time correcting weaknesses just to hear that it’s still not good enough in every performance review?

Mark Jewell Speaking & Training is proud to be a Strengthscope Certified Practitioner. By using the innovative Strengthscope Assessment, you can learn:

  • What tasks bring you energy
  • How you can do more of these tasks
  • What energizes the people you work with
  • How to increase engagement, productivity and performance in the workplace

Learn more below about how Strengthscope can help you and your team truly thrive.

"Real Results. Real Time. Real Impact!"

How do you define strengths?

When we ask clients this question, they usually use words like “skills, talents, competencies” or “things you’re good at.” And those are all true – to an extent. But it isn’t the whole picture. After all, if I asked you to give me a list of things you’re good at – but absolutely hate – chances are, you could name at least a few.

That’s why we define strengths as those things that give you energy. It’s more than just competency. It’s about those things that fire you up, put you in the zone, make you excited to come to work every single day.

And when you can combine your competencies (talents, skills) + your energizers (tasks that get you excited), that’s when you get peak performance.

Using Your Strengths to Thrive

In the Survivor’s Guide to Thriving model, the fourth step is Driving Effort – the work that has to be done in order to get from where you are to where you want to be. Often times, we think that work must be hard. Otherwise, we’d all do it, right?

But what if you could view that work through the lens of your strengths?

What if you could use your Relationship-building strength to make the work more fun? What if you could use your Efficiency strength to make the work go faster? What if you could use your Strategic Mindedness strength to look at the work in the context of the bigger picture?

This is the power of taking a strengths-based approach to moving from surviving to thriving – it makes the whole process more enjoyable.
